Digital Printing

Digital printing is easiest described as printing similar to what you would do in your own office - but of course to a higher quality and standard.  In digital printing the file sent directly to the printer eliminating the need for plates and film.  All digital printing is done in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and kohl (black)) so exact colour matching is not always available - however with technological advancements it is very, very close.

As a customer the major benefits for digital printing are;

• faster turnaround - generally same day
• smaller runs - can print as few as one
• personalised data - each print can be personalised with different colours, names or numbers
• more file choices - can print from almost any computer program

Offset Printing

Offset printing is more involved than digital printing, hence it requires more time to complete.  With offset printing the file is converted to a plate - which is then placed on a printing press - which is loaded with inks.  Most printing is done in CMYK, although spot colour is available through the use of PMS colours.  There are thousand of PMS colours to chose from and they are mainly used if the print job is only a few colours (less than four) or if exact colour matching is required.

• large sized outputs - greater than A3 for items such as presentation folders
